Director Christopher Nolan has revealed that his next project will be a sweeping historical epic about Ferdinand Magellan's circumnavigation of the globe. The film will be shot on IMAX and 70mm, continuing Nolan's commitment to large-format filmmaking.

Cillian Murphy is confirmed to star as Magellan, reuniting with Nolan following their award-winning collaboration on Oppenheimer. The supporting cast reportedly includes Pedro Pascal and Saoirse Ronan in key roles.

Universal Pictures has greenlit the project with a reported budget of $250 million, making it one of the most expensive original films ever produced. Shooting is scheduled to begin in Portugal and Argentina this fall.
