The Metropolitan Museum of Art's Costume Institute has officially announced that the 2026 Met Gala theme will be 'Future Nostalgia: Fashion Beyond Time,' exploring the intersection of retro aesthetics and futuristic design. The event, scheduled for May 4, will be co-chaired by Zendaya, Timothee Chalamet, Bad Bunny, and Anna Wintour.

The accompanying exhibition will feature over 150 garments spanning six decades, showcasing how designers have repeatedly looked to the past to envision the future. Key pieces include original costumes from iconic science fiction films alongside contemporary designs by Iris van Herpen, Balenciaga, and Thom Browne.

Fashion insiders are already speculating about what the A-list guest list will wear, with many expecting dramatic looks that blend vintage silhouettes with cutting-edge materials like 3D-printed fabrics and responsive textiles. The Met Gala remains the fashion world's most exclusive event, with tickets reportedly priced at $75,000 per person this year.
